2016 Check in

So this morning we had a two hour delay and after I slept my extra hour, I spent the next one self-analyzing.  In my mind -- for whatever reason -- I have already pegged this year as off to a bad start, but after this morning I realize that I'm doing pretty well for myself. 
Anyways, this year I've decided to do a little analysis each month and since I'm too impatient to wait until the end of January, I decided to do it now.
The first thing I've done is accomplish 2 of my mini-goals.  The first one is watching Shadowhunters (which is absolutely fabulous by the way; review to come soon) and the other one is getting noticed by someone I admire.  (Yesterday Christine Riccio noticed me on instagram #booksenpai) 
Now since it is so early on in the year, there's no way of telling how well my main goals are going to be in the end, but here's how they're doing right now.
1. Declutter - this one's going about as well as it did last year.  My life is still a mess, but hopefully we'll work on the mess later on.
2. STOP Procrastinating - I'm procrastinating this one, so we'll see
3. Journal - while I've found that asking myself to journal everyday is a bit much (especially with procrastination being a big issue in my life) but I try to journal at least once a week.  I've found the journaling has helped my emotional growth so far because there are less pent up emotions and I think I'll like looking back on the entries in the future. 
4. Figure out what I want to do with my hair - I've actually accomplished this one!  I was spending a lot of time last year thinking about what I wanted to do with my hair.  This year I decided to cut it all off and I have to say, I love it. (Also before anyone asks, I donated 20 of the 24 inches cut off to Wigs For Kids)

5. Be Creative - I don't know how to define creativity but, sure, let's say I'm doing that. 
6 and 7. Start jars for memories and accomplishments - *see STOP Procrastinating 
8. Take better care  of my mental health - I think I'm doing okay with this one... This month I'm doing a beauty thing with a tumblr bud (who politely asked not to be named) where I'm not wearing makeup or anything to keep my focus off of external beauty and I think I like doing that. 

That's what I've gotten done so far, we'll see how far I get.

monthly favs december

Hi! It's Olivia/Katherine again with my monthly favorites. I have 7 from December.
1. Vinyl- I think vinyl records are so cool. They're becoming very popular lately. I got a few records for Christmas and I've been in love with how they sound and look.
2. Polaroid Camera- I'm obsessed with how the pictures look when they're all hanging on my wall. They all have the same hue and it's very aesthetically pleasing.
3. Cheesecake Factory macaroni and cheese- I recently went to my nearest Cheesecake Factory and had the mac and cheese and it is to die for. That's all.
4. Blurryface Live- I'm a big twenty one pilots fan and I really wanted to go see them in concert. Unfortunately I didn't get to. Blurryface Live on TV (Palladia) was amazing and like seeing them in concert.
5. Death of a Bachelor- I just have to take a moment to say how excited I am for Panic! At The Disco's new album. It's going to be released January 15.
6. Ukulele-  I recently got a ukulele for Christmas and if you're looking for a good instrument to learn, you should definitely try out a uke. It's easy and really fun.
7. KKandWhimsy-  This business on Etsy makes really cute and simplistic bracelets. I got one from a close friend and I wear it all the time.

2015 Reflections and 2016 Goals

So last year I did a reflections and goals post and I really enjoyed it so I decided to do another one this year. 

I kind of already did my reflections in the last post but I think we should check up on those 2015 goals...

1. Exercise more:  I can tell you for a fact that I did not stick to this goal and I'm honestly not that disappointed in my self.

2. Be more body confident:  I'm doing pretty well with this one.  (Also I think I got a lot prettier this year like I'm pretty sure this was my glo up) 

3. Be more confident in my personality:  If you read my last post (or if you know me irl) I thrive off of compliments (actually I place a lot of my self worth in the hands of others wow I'm just now realizing this) annyyyyyywayyyyys at camp this year we had a compliment circle and everyone complimented my personality and it was like really good for me and my ego but w/e and I think I've also improved my personality and stopped caring what others thought of it. 

4.  Declutter:  lololololololol yeah if anything I became more cluttered

5. Be more creative (namely finish writing Adopted, and blog at least 36 times): Well I've actually given up on the Selected trilogy because wow they're terrible I cringe so hard and I just checked and I did indeed blog over 36 times so yay! 

2015 wasn't the best year for me but I feel like it was very good for my character development and rather than focusing on the bad things I've decided to make a list of some of the good things I did in 2015:
  • won elections for student government (vp of my class yay)
  • finished more than one book series
  • went to Universal Studios
  • joined the Clique
  • went to Disney World
  • went to Florida (like 3 time my goodness)
  • learned how to play ukulele
  • got cast in a school musical
  • watched a whole series (or three) on Netflix
  • started writing a book
  • went ziplining
  • became more confident
  • went to my first comic con
  • tried (and failed) Nanowrimo
  • went on a mission trip
  • became vegetarian
  • performed on stage
Now for 2016! First I'm going to make a small list of tiny goals (you know the ones you put on there because you know they won't be too hard to cross off)  for 2016 and then I'll post my main ones

  • consume more mac n cheese
  • consume something other than mac n cheese or pasta
  • get noticed by someone I admire
  • concerts
  • get noticed by a certain someone *wink wink*
  • become a bit less awkward
  • catch up on walking dead
  • start supernatural 
  • let the fosters take over my life again
  • watch shadowhunters obsessively
  • let the 100 take over my life again
Okay now my mains

1.  Actually declutter this year: Okay but I really would like to be organized I'm just not good at it.  Hopefully this year I'll put some work into it and I'll be less of a mess.

2.  STOP PROCRASTINATING: I have let myself get by with procrastination for way too long now (wow I procrastinated my problem) but yeah its seriously become a problem with my grades and my mental health because I put off stuff and then get really anxious about putting off the stuff and then really stressed because I have to do it last minute and fail. 

3. Journal: So while looking for a certain notebook I found a little diary I had written in when I was in 6 / beginning of 7th grade and it was really nice to see the progression that I made in those few months and even compare myself to that self like that was self confidence boost x10000.  This year I'd like to do daily journal as well as occasional dream journaling because I have had these really vivid dreams lately and I would like to write a story with their plot line because they are very warm and fuzzy and they make me happy.

4. Figure out what I want to do with my hair: Okay but seriously I either want to cut it all off or grow it really long and dye it I need to figure out what I'm doing. 

5.  Continue my creativity: The fact that I was so emotionally distressed in 2015 did wonders for my character development and writing skills like who knew spending hours crying over a boy you like (I have a serious problem) would lead to such nice writing? 

6. Start a positive memory jar: So I saw this cool thing on some website where you take a memory from each day and put it in a jar and I want to put all my positive memories and put them in a jar to so I can be all happy at the end of the year

7. Start an accomplishment jar: I want a jar where I can put all my accomplishments in and look back on them.  Just little things like finishing books or watching movies or just being a good person and then I can be all warm and fuzzy when I'm feelin sad.

8.  Take care of my mental health more: I feel like in 2015 I really dropped the ball (new years pun very much intended) with my mental health so I'd like to maybe not do that this year.

That's all I can think of for now (granted it is literally four in the morning how did that happen I started working on blog stuff at two) I need to sleep so Imma go ahead and post this.

So Buzzfeed posted an article  and I was like well that sounds fun so guess who's doing it -- me.
1. What did you do this year that you are proud of?
This year I feel like I grew up a lot.  I  also got started on a book which I'm really proud of. 
2. Who did you meet this year that inspired you?
This year I met Olivia and she inspired me to  stop trying to fit in.
3. What did you read that you think bettered you?
I read a lot of Rainbow Rowell books this year and I think that they are very good at reminding you to be tolerant.
4. What are songs that you will always hear and think of this year even when you're listening on some contraption that hasn't even been invented yet?
Probably the entire Badlands album.
5. What were some times you laughed so hard you could barely breathe?
My favorite recent moment was with my friend Gage (Olivia also joined us) and we met up and went swimming and caught up and it was just fan-freaking-tastic.
6. What were you favorite movies?
Crimson Peak was so bad it was good, Mockingjay was fabulous, Insurgent was pretty good (but have you seen the trailer for Allegiant I mean what is happening?), Paper Towns was super super good, Scorch Trials was gr9.
7. What were some fears you had at the beginning of the  year that you overcame?
I had a big fear of not being good enough but I think I've grown to realize that I'm my biggest critic.
8. What were some quotes you loved this year?
Things are shaping up to be pretty odd , you are what you love not who loves you, write something it might be worthless paint something it might be wordless pointless verses nonsense curses you'll see purpose start to surface no one else it dealing with you demons meaning defeating them could be the beginning of your meaning friend. 
9. What are ways that you exercisied self-care?
I told people who hurt me to leave me alone and I gave myself time for panic attacks.
10. What are things you want to see more of next year?
I want to see myself be happier and healthy next year.
11.  What are five things you did you'd never thought you'd do?
Introduce myself to new people, become seriously infatuated with someone, found a passion, realized what does and doesn't define me, auditioned for a musical.
12. What were your favorite things this year?
I really enjoyed comic con, the musical, and realizing how far I've come.
13. What are the most important things you learned this year?
I think the most important thing is that I have a lot of defining features that aren't 'writing, bookworm, etc.'

Ilysm, stay street, stay alive, srsly idk how you put up with me, ur sick as frick
16. What are some places where you feel true joy in your life?
I'm going to get all poetic here when I say that writing is a headspace that is filled with so much joy for me, like anytime I feel any emotion at all writing is so like cleansing and helpful and joyful to me.
17. Where do you feel most yourself?
I feel most myself in my writing because I express myself through my characters and monologues. 
18. What were your favorite meals?
Well I recently became vegetarian and mac'n'cheese is honestly the best thing to happen to me ever because do you realize how easy it is to make? Like 90 percent of the time I just eat a variation of mac n cheese because it's vegetarian and Ah-mazing.
19. How did you calm yourself in times of stress?
This past year I feel like I relied very heavily on music when I was stressed. I have no idea why, but Troye Sivan, Lana Del Ray and Halsey just really make me feel calmer.  I  also will sometimes write down my stress and burn it but that's a fire hazard and isn't always easily accomplished.
20. What are some compliments you received that deeply affected you?
I thrive off of positive reinforcement but my favorite compliments are when people compliment me on things I don't mean to do.  Like someone told me my hair was nice when I was having a really awful day and thought it looked awful, someone telling me I'm a good person when I feel numb, I always like being told I have a nice personality just I kind of survive off of compliments so I kind of need at least ten a day or I'm very upset so sorry I'm v full of myself. 
21. Who are people who you believe bring out the best in you?
I think my friends bring out a really sweet and compassionate person.  There's also a guy who I kinda  really really like and I think he brings out a nice person too (and now I'm thinking about him my gosh I need to chilllllllllll)
22. What items of clothing did you buy that felt the most you?
The dress I bought for the Christmas dance at my school felt very me and I really felt confident wearing it.  (The pictures are on my instagram I'm too lazy to download them rn)
23. What are you excited to leave behind in 2015?
Hopefully I leave behind a disorganized mess.
24. What are five things you were too hard on yourself for doing?
Not being organized, feeling upset for no reason, panic attacks in public, not speaking up for myself, and not always looking my best.
25. What is the best piece of advice you heard in 2015?

If you have to be someone else for him to like you, he's not worth it.
27. What things have you been putting off doing because you didn't have enough time?
I've been putting off a lot of selfcare lately because I don't prioritize myself.
28. What are some things you want to focus on and work on in 2016?
I really want to focus on my writing and become a better writer this year.
29. What are the best parts of you that you really let show in 2015?
I think I was a lot more open and empathetic this year. 
30. What are your biggest hopes for 2016?
I hope to be nicer and work on writing a lot.
